What began in 1987 in a four-room apartment with the servicing of a single surgical instrument is today an internationally active Swiss MedTech company. For nearly four decades we have supported physicians, hospitals and clinics with high-quality technologies and innovative solutions for plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery as well as the entire medical and hospital sector – built on precision, trust and long-term partnerships.
Robert Albin founds the sole proprietorship for surgical supplies and consumables. From the start no catalogue trading, but a portfolio built consistently along surgical needs. It begins with service and repair of the 3M MiniDriver, a compressed-air surgical handpiece for orthopaedics, hand and foot surgery as well as maxillofacial surgery. Added to this is the distribution of 3M (USA) plastic surgery products, including McGhan implants and expanders. An American global corporation places its trust in a Swiss company. This trust becomes the seal of quality of the first hour.
Registration in the commercial register of the Canton of Zurich on 28 June. The new legal form and the capital create the basis for framework contracts with hospitals and for exclusive representations such as MARENA compression garments and Batrik Medical. The company becomes a reliable contractual partner of the Swiss healthcare system.
Lou Albin joins the company with a clear mandate: building and expanding sales with MicroAire, Skintech, MARENA, Inamed Corporation and Lina Medical. This is followed by the exclusive representation of MicroAire PAL liposuction, the build-up of the MARENA organisation in 12 European countries as well as the partnership with Inamed Corporation covering breast implants, expanders, gastric banding and the BIB balloon, complemented by SmartRelease ECTR. Four of these top brands remain partners to this day, in 2026. Relationships that last more than a quarter of a century are no coincidence in international MedTech. They are proof of character.
Alois Lou Albin acquires 100 percent of Medic Service AG. No gift, no family handover, but a complete, bank-financed acquisition, structured and audited as a private equity firm or an international buyer would conduct it. The banks examined the company, the figures and the buyer, and gave their trust. Whoever acquires their life's work at their own risk leads differently. With full commitment and personal responsibility for every decision. This is followed by international realignment with dedicated divisions in ENT and gynaecology, with a clear focus on plastic surgery as well as medical and hospital supplies.
Exclusive representation of NAGOR, later Eurosilicone, today GCA (Global Consolidated Aesthetics) with PERLE and LUNA. From 2027, ADORA follows.
Nicolas Lou Albin joins the company and starts with a commercial apprenticeship focused on customer service. Over more than a decade he successively builds up responsibility and becomes a central pillar of the company's management.
Renaming of Medic Service AG to ALBIN GROUP AG. The new identity stands for growth, internationality and the clear vision of taking a leading role in the Swiss MedTech landscape.
