Technology

What is argon plasma?

Two proven medical energy principles — combined into one modern system.

Component 1: Argon gas

  • Biologically inert noble gas — non-toxic
  • Acts as cooling medium — protects against overheating
  • Larger molecules than helium — lower risk
  • Eliminated through the respiratory cycle

Component 2: Radiofrequency

  • RF alternating current through argon plasma beam
  • 85°C for only 0.4 milliseconds
  • Contracts collagen fibres instantly by 40–50%
  • Argon gas cooling protects the dermis

Selective collagen effect

Collagen has the lowest electrical resistance of all tissue structures. ArgoPlasma acts selectively — nerves, vessels and fat remain intact.

Dual effect

Immediate + long-term — the double effect

Phase 1 — immediately in the OR
  • Thermal energy contracts collagen fibres instantly
  • 40–50% of fibres immediately shortened
  • Surgeon sees tightening in real time
  • Patient sees improvement the next day
Phase 2 — neocollagenesis
  • Controlled thermal injury activates fibroblasts
  • New, high-quality collagen and elastin
  • 3 months: clear improvement
  • 6–9 months: optimal overall result

Safety

Why argon is safer than helium

Gas diffusion advantage

Helium molecules diffuse faster through tissue — higher risk of pneumo-complications. Argon: larger molecules, reduced risk.

Active cooling

Argon cools actively: skin temperature about 38°C — compared to 45°C+ with bulk RF systems.

No carbonisation

No smoke, no burn by-products — safe, clean OR environment.

"Clinical measurements show that in an average treatment region, skin temperatures get to about 38°C — as opposed to 45°C and higher with bulk RF systems."— Ocean Clinic Marbella
